The ‘Simplify Your Wardrobe’ Challenge- The Final Cut

At the end of the purge of the bottoms in my “Simplify Your Wardrobe Challenge”, I had whittled it down to 5 pairs of ankle pants, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of dress slacks (black), and 5 skirts. That’s 12 and more than I wanted to keep, but I’m keeping an eagle eye on what doesn’t get worn and it’s getting stored. No hesitation. This feeling of empowerment that I have over the objects I own is addictive!     After all of the decisions and the contemplating, and the storing, this is what I ended up putting in the Read More …

The ‘Simplify Your Wardrobe’ Challenge- The Shoes

Next up was the shoes. Granted there were quite a few of them, but all in all they took less time to simplify and pare down than many of the other categories. In Texas we have two temperatures- hot and OMG HOT. So that left the sparkly flip flops for every day casual stuff and then a few choices flats and sneakers. Oh, and one pair of neutral kitten heels. I’m pretty sure I can actually get that down to a smaller number, but I want to start with these. If I find I’m not wearing certain pairs, they’ll Read More …

The ‘Simplify Your Wardrobe’ Challenge- The Closet

Here is a panoramic view of my closet. Keep in mind that since the beginning of 2015 I’ve been weeding out unused/unloved items (6 bags at least) and this is what I was left with. Although it’s fairly organized, I felt that I had WAY too many pieces. There was dust building up on the shoulders of some of these lol! On the left you see the stackers where I usually keep the pants. I sometimes use one of the stackers to organize my outfits for the week, with each compartment holding the entire outfit for a day (including Read More …

The ‘Simplify Your Wardrobe’ Challenge!

It turns out that the first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week. I don’t know if it’s the caffeine talking or the beginning of the month rush I get, but I’ve decided to give a Capsule Wardrobe a try. If there’s anything in my life that needs to be simplified, it’s that. What’s even more impressive is that I’m trying to talk mi esposo into doing this as well. If you know him you know that this is a monumental challenge. But I’m no quitter! Besides, if I have to suffer, I may as well have company. Read More …
